Psychology is the study of behavior, human as well as animal. It seeks to understand the causes of behavior of individuals in terms of biological, environmental, social, and cultural variables. Psychology is a science of great fertility, exploration, and dynamic change. In pursuing a bachelor¹s degree in psychology, students acquire skills in research, information gathering, and analytic thinking. Students of psychology develop critical thinking skills, the ability to solve problems and develop written and verbal communication skills. In addition, self-understanding and knowledge of people can be tremendously important in whatever you decide to do. As a psychology major, students have an opportunity to learn skills that are relevant to many types of careers. The knowledge you acquire in psychology can be put to work in a variety of employment settings and can also provide a valuable adjunct to study in professional and graduate programs. Career opportunities for undergraduates and those individuals pursuing a graduate degree will vary in business, education, government, nonprofit organizations and within health and human services.
