Applying for your Initial Teaching Credential
Fall 2024 Completers
Complete the appropriate steps by January 31, 2025.
If you have completed all credential requirements and your grades have posted, please follow the steps listed below to be recommended for your Preliminary Credential.
Step 1: Survey
- Complete the two Exit Surveys (Link will be provided to candidates by program office)
- Take screenshots of your survey completion confirmation with your name included
- Email your survey completion screenshot to CED-TPAC@csulb.edu
Step 2: Submit a Request for Credential Recommendation
- After your grades have posted, fill out our online Request for Recommendation form (link will be posted early January) and attach the following items:
- Any missing items (e.g. CPR, RICA, U.S. Constitution) that were highlighted on your credential center evaluation and have now been completed
- CalTPA/Program Clearances, if listed on your evaluation, will be submitted by TPAC on your behalf
- Any missing items (e.g. CPR, RICA, U.S. Constitution) that were highlighted on your credential center evaluation and have now been completed
Step 3: Credential Recommendation
- Your Request for Recommendation will be routed to a 黑料网 Credential Analyst who will determine if your file is complete and will submit an online credential recommendation to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
Step 4: Online Application
- Watch for a notification email from the CTC (donotreply @ ctc.ca.gov)
- Follow the instructions in the email from the CTC directing you to complete your portion of the online application
Step 5: Credential Issuance
- Within approximately 10 days of completing the online application, the CTC will email you notification that your document has been granted and is available for viewing. Log in to your CTC Educator Profile, click on your Education Specialist Credential document number and review your credential carefully. Contact the Credential Center as soon as possible if your document is incorrect, or if you have any questions.

- After completing your student teaching assignment and your grades have posted, fill out our online Request for Recommendation form (link will be posted early January) and attach the following items:
- Any missing items (e.g. CPR, U.S. Constitution) that were highlighted on your credential center evaluation and have now been completed
- CalTPA/Program Clearances will be submitted by TPAC on your behalf
- Any missing items (e.g. CPR, U.S. Constitution) that were highlighted on your credential center evaluation and have now been completed

If you completed student teaching prior to Fall 2024, please email the Credential Center at CED-Credentials@csulb.edu.
Presentations will be posted middle to end of December.
