Parking Program Changes - Fall 2024

Published June 1, 2024

A summary of all parking program changes for Fall Semester 2024.

The off-campus Overflow Lot and discounted permit option is available again for students at a price of $180 instead of the regular semester price of $259. The Overflow Lot will be at Cottonwood Church, 5 miles from campus, for the first 8 weeks of the fall semester. There will be free shuttle service every 20 minutes that operates Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. After Oct. 17, the overflow parking permits will function as regular campus student semester permits with all associated on-campus privileges.

Full program info is available at Overflow Parking – Fall 2024.

To improve the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience and maximize EV charger availability on campus, a new policy for using EV charging spaces on campus will begin on August 19, 2024. Policy changes will be reflected on our website on July 29, 2024.

Once charging is complete, EVs will have a 1-hour grace period to relocate. Please refer to the campus map for the location of low emissions spaces intended for qualifying vehicles. After the grace period, an idling fee of $0.10 per minute will be applied to the charging transaction. Furthermore, gas powered vehicles will no longer be allowed to park in EV charging spaces at any time.

For additional details about this program please visit Electric Vehicles website.

After the 1-year fee freeze ended on June 30, 2024, Parking and Transportation Services resumed a more moderate approach to parking fee increases on campus. Parking fees will now increase in conjunction with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) or at a rate of 5%, whichever is lower. Information about specific parking fees was emailed to each individual parking group during Spring Semester 2024. Current parking fees are always listed on our Permits website. Additional information about our fee increase policy is available on the Permit Fee Schedule (2021-2025) website.

ºÚÁÏÍø EMPLOYEES: Staff and faculty have the option of enrolling in automatic payroll deduction for their parking permit fees through our . Paying via payroll deduction is a pre-tax benefit for employees that also ensures your permit renews automatically to avoid unnecessary citations. If an employee is enrolled in automatic payroll deduction, no action is required. You will stay enrolled unless the deduction is cancelled.

This summer we completed a number of long-awaited capital improvements to the parking infrastructure on campus. These improvements include interior/exterior repairs to our 3 parking structures, recoating and restriping various parking lots (Lots E3, E4, E9, E11, G3, G5 and G11) and even adding an additional vehicle exit to Lot E10 (University Bookstore/Amazon at The Beach).

Most of this construction will be completed prior to the first day of fall classes; however, intermittent closures can be expected in the Pyramid Parking Structure, Lot G4 and Lot E1 as work will continue in these areas until December 2024. Please obey all posted signage and allow extra time to arrive at your destination during peak times of campus travel.
