Mission Statement
Inclusive Excellence: Reinventing the Honors Tradition for the 21st Century
The University Honors Program challenges and enriches the educational experience of high-achieving students through its commitment to academic excellence and undergraduate research; mentorship and professionalism; and meaningful civic engagement both on campus and in local and global communities. This programming upholds three key learning objectives: Cultivating Leadership through Practice, Building Community through Civic Engagement, and Fostering Global Excellence with Global Learning.
These key emphases are rooted in recognition of the value and the necessity of cultivating intellectually and culturally diverse perspectives to ensure the future successes of our students and their communities as they move towards leadership positions, advanced graduate studies, and illustrious personal and employment pathways. With these learning goals, we prepare our scholars to lead their communities with intellectual rigor, transformative vision, and global acumen. In return, we expect students to make a sustained commitment to excellence and to these pillars of The University Honors educational experience.
