School Psychology Program Description

The program is 60 units and designed to be completed in 3 years. School Psychology program courses are typically offered weeknights from 4:00-6:45PM or from 7:00-9:45PM, subject to change. Please note that the practicum and fieldwork experiences require that students be available to complete hours during the typical K-12 public school day (8AM-3PM).

NOTE: The GRE is not required for admission to the program.

EDP 405  Positive Strategies for Classroom Management (3 units)

Prerequisite courses do not need to be completed prior to applying nor prior to being admitted. Prerequisite course completion does not impact an applicant’s eligibility for admission to the program. Prerequisite courses may be completed the summer session prior to admission or during the first year in the program at the discretion of the advisor.

  • Or 3 units of advisor approved 500/600 level elective from approved master’s degree

(c) Related field emphasis – 9 units from a master’s degree in a related field

Other Requirements

Obtain a Certificate of Clearance from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Complete 450 hours of practicum and a 1200-hour internship.

Exit Requirements

Complete and pass a culminating experience - either comprehensive exam or thesis; completion of the Internship Portfolio with a satisfactory rating; and passing the National School Psychology Examination (ETS/PRAXIS II #10400). Students who opt to take comprehensive exams must pass the National School Psychology Examination to receive their degree and be recommended to Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the PPS credential.
